Many have heard of the Lady with the Lamp, Florence Nightingale, who was the founder of modern day nursing. She came to prominence during the Crimean war in the 1850’s, where she tended to injured soldiers, trained nurses and encouraged social reform. Her contribution to humanity is undoubtedly remarkable. Many centuries before Florence Nightingale, a virtuous woman from amongst the Ansar (Helpers) of Madinah emerged as an expert practicing nurse. Her name was Rufaida Al-Aslamiyah. First Aid Training Course First aid knowledge and skills may enable everyone to make their workplace, home, and neighborhood a safer place to be. National seminar on Palliative and Hospice care

In honor of International Day of Palliative and Hospice Care, the Nursing Department has organized a national seminar on 12th October 2022, for TIU family and whole society, to discuss the importance of palliative and hospice care, the differences concepts, and the areas of practice, and target patients who can utilize the mentioned care.  Shinwey Bakhtyar Radha, a master's degree holder in medical-surgical nursing, delivered the session.The seminar's objective was to increase community awareness of the value of multi-professional teamwork in delivering appropriate end-of-life care to lessen suffering and severe sickness symptoms. National Seminar on Psychiatric and Mental Health

The Nursing Department at Tishk International University arranged a national seminar for entire community, TIU Staffs and students, the seminar  presented by Dr. Moslih Sabir Kareem, a psychiatric nurse, to discuss mental health issues, mediation, and mental health principles, on the occasion of International Mental Health Day.  The seminar's objectives were to encourage people to assess their general mental health, seek medical care without feeling embarrassed, and dispel any myths they may have about getting mental health treatment.

Welcoming Ceremony for second, third and fourth grade students 2022-2023

On October 9, 2022, the Nursing Department hosted a Welcoming Ceremony for second, third and fourth-grade students. The Dean of Students Representative and Nursing Department staff members organized the social activity. Prof. Dr Hiwa Banna Dean of the Faculty of Nursing gave a welcoming speech, wishing students a fruitful Academic Year. Then all students and staff from Nursing Department gathered in the garden of the Education Building for lunch, where a memorable time was well spent.

On 8th October 2022, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University organized Social Celebration Ceremony in collaboration with the Dean of Students to reward the top three students of academic year 2021 - 2022 of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in order to motivate and encourage students to achieve greater scientific success.
