Abstract
Covid-19 is an acute disease in humans caused by a coronavirus,
which is characterized mainly by fever and cough to severe symptoms and in some
cases death, especially in older people and those with underlying health conditions.
Aim:
the study aimed to identify the incidence and explore COVID-19 in Erbil city. Method
and patients: A quantitative, descriptive design was conducted.
non-probability sampling was used to recruit 25 suspected during the period starting
from 19 September 2021 to the end of 15 May 2022, were recruited to the study,
diagnosed and who were admitted to the Raparin Teaching Hospital were recruited. The
SPSS version 23 software was used to analyze the data by using frequency and
percentage, Chi-Square to identify the association between the variables.
Results: the incidence of COVID-19 during this period was 0.05 patients, and the study
found that most patients 68% were male, 68% had another affected family member,
64% were aged more than or equal to 8 to months, and 68% age of mothers were
between (36-44).
92% of patients have a fever, 52% of patients have tiredness, 52% of patients have chest
pain, 68% of patients have a sore throat, more than half of patients have nausea, 80% of
patients have vomiting, (64%)patients have skin rash, 88% patients have muscle pain,
most patients have diarrhea, 80% patients have fatigue, 68% patients don’t lose of
taste,68% patients lose of the smell, 68% patients have chills, 72% patients don’t have
shortness of breath, tiredness, and sometimes complained of nausea and vomiting.
Conclusions and recommendation: the study found that the incidence of COVID-19
among children was within the normal range, the study recommended to a
comprehensive study, with a large sample and in different areas. Keywords: Child,
