Children’s Environmental Health and safety Community Social Project News

In collaboration with Ishik Kindergarten, the Nursing Department, Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a community service project, held under the name of “Environmental Health and Safety Community University Partnership Project,”. The project was held over two days, November 28th and December 12th, 2023, under the supervision of Ms. Hanan Azad.

To enrich children’s environments, elevate their quality of life, and bolster their awareness of environmental issues with a positive engagement, nursing students conducted a series of seminars on November 28th. These seminars covered crucial topics such as sleep patterns, personal hygiene, road safety, respect and obedience, a nutritious diet, and environmental hazards. Following these seminars, the students assisted the children in revisiting and practically demonstrating the learned concepts.

Aiming to further enhance health awareness among kindergarten students, particularly regarding environmental stewardship, a subsequent initiative took place on December 12th. As an extension of the project, our students crafted a comprehensive pamphlet. This resource delved into topics including environmental protection, safety tips to avoid hazards, kindness towards animals, managing bleeding, seasonal self-care, picnic etiquette, and managing disruptions among kindergarteners.

Upon distribution of the pamphlets, the nursing students engaged in detailed discussions with the children on each covered subject, providing education and sparking interest with thoughtful gifts. The children actively participated, posing questions about any aspects they found unclear. They eagerly emulated the actions and advice imparted during the seminars, with the nursing students offering guidance and support throughout.

The children were provided with a comprehensive overview and detailed clarifications on each essential topic. Meanwhile, they were also gifted with presents, keeping the atmosphere both engaging and entertaining.

The outstanding contributions from our second-grade students were pivotal to the event’s success. The Faculty of Nursing extends its sincere gratitude to everyone involved and hopes this initiative inspires other students to participate in community service projects.
