AI and Patient Safety: Opportunities, Risks, and Regulations

During the World Patient Safety Day (17 th September 2025), the Faculty of Nursing – Nursing Department was able to hold a seminar called:

AI and Patient Safety: Opportunities, Risks, and Regulations.

The seminar was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dara Al-Banna, Head of Nursing Department at 3:00 PM in Hall 308, Education Building.

It discussed the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the medical field, specifically how this field can increase patient safety, although it also touched upon the issues of ethical concerns, potential threats, and the significance of optimal regulations in enhancing the wellbeing of patients.

The faculty and students were actively involved in the discussion, noting the role of AI in determining the future of healthcare. The seminar was very informative on the ways in which with responsible practices towards innovation and safety can be hand in hand.
