in Sulaymaniyah Governorate .
A perfect day spent with Soz Mental Hospital !!
in order to enhance the knowledge and gain a better understanding of psychiatry and mental health problems , TIU staff and fourth-grade nursing students took an inspiring scientific trip to Soz Mental Hospital in Sulaymaniyah Governorate in a beautiful sunny day.
The Soz Mental Hospital is a teaching hospital for mental health referrals, They help cure and rehabilitate mental health patients.
Dr. Mosleh Sabir, a renowned psychiatrist, Goran Nuri Salih, a lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Miss Hanan Azad ,research assistant, led this scientific trip on 22-5-2023 .
However, before going to the hospital a small session about the mental health was carried out by Dr.Muslih sabir.
He explained that the positive mental health is when people can control their emotions and they are happy overall with an absence of mental illness. also provided in-depth explanations of the various mental health conditions and treatments, Students were taught proper patient interaction, privacy, respect, and acknowledgement of consent.
The aim of the trip was to give students a chance to have direct interactions with the patients and staff in the health facility. and presented the students the opportunity to understand the implications of mental health on people.
Also the interaction gave them an insight and practical view of what they are been taught in class.
Staff at Soz Mental Hospital are super lucky to show off the beautiful Soz Hospital and their cases to TIU students, they created a comprehensive environment for students throughout the hospital, where they had the opportunity to closely monitor patients’ health care.
The fourth-grade students’ scientific excursion to Soz Mental Hospital turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The Nursing Faculty at Tishk International University is dedicated to giving its students real-world learning experiences to advance their professional development.
This scientific journey demonstrate the faculty’s effort to empowering its students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers. Finaly ,the Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University presented a plaque to a Soz mental hospital , and they expressed their support for Tishk International University in achieving its community mission.
