Nursing Department Hosts Seminar on International Day of Older Persons – Supporting Healthy Ageing (Aligned with SDG 3)

In recognition of the International Day of Older Persons, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University successfully organized a special seminar dedicated to raising awareness about the health, dignity, and wellbeing of older adults in our community.

📅 Date: Thursday, 30 October 2025
🕞 Time: 2:30 PM
🏛 Venue: Hall 308, Education Building
🎙 Guest Speaker: Prof. Dr. Saleh Ahmed

The seminar brought together academic staff and professionals from the Nursing Department to reflect on the vital role healthcare providers play in supporting healthy ageing, one of the core priorities of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing). SDG 3 advocates ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all ages, including older adults who represent a growing segment of the population.

Prof. Dr. Saleh Ahmed delivered an insightful presentation on the challenges faced by older persons—ranging from chronic diseases to social isolation—and emphasized the responsibility of the nursing profession to promote compassionate, evidence-based care. The session also addressed the need for stronger community engagement, age-friendly healthcare services, and policies that protect the rights of older citizens.

The seminar served as a meaningful reminder that supporting older persons is not only a healthcare duty, but also a moral and societal commitment—a step toward achieving a healthier and more inclusive future for all.

👥 The Nursing Department extends its gratitude to all who attended and contributed to this important academic and humanitarian event.
