1st National Workshop on Infectious Diseases Awareness and Prevention: AIDS International Day (Interdisciplinary Workshop)

In collaboration with the Faculties of Pharmacy and Dentistry, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a special interdisciplinary workshop and poster exhibition, held on December 13th 2023. The workshop aimed to equip staff and students with the knowledge and skills they need to protect their own and their communities’ health, as part of a proactive effort to address the significance of infection awareness and prevention in the World International AIDS Day. The goal was to promote a culture of prevention through training and practical techniques.

Key objectives of this interdisciplinary workshop:

  1. Knowledge Dissemination: The workshop served as an educational platform, providing attendees with accurate and up-to-date information about various infectious diseases, their transmission pathways, and proactive prevention measures.
  2. Hands-on Training: Participants received practical instruction in crucial preventive measures, learning valuable tips for illness prevention, such as proper handwashing techniques and the importance of personal hygiene.
  3. Vaccination Advocacy: Recognizing the critical role of vaccinations in preventing the spread of dangerous diseases, the program included specific sessions on vaccine awareness. Education was provided on the importance of vaccinations and how to advocate for them in their communities.

As the workshop took centre stage, and following an extensive discussion and speaker presentations led by Mr. Goran Noori Saleh, the workshop’s organizer, our speakers: Dr. Dilman Azad (forensic medicine), Dr. Sharad Visht (Pharmacist), Dr. Ahmad Hamdi (Pharmacist) and Mr. Yousif Hawar (Dentist), the community’s dedication to creating a safer and healthier living environment was demonstrated. The program intends to have a long-lasting effect by empowering communities to proactively protect their well-being against infectious diseases by providing individuals with information and doable tactics.
