On November 6, 2024, the Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a successful national workshop titled, “Overview of Infant Nutrition.” The workshop was attended by healthcare professionals, staff, and students.
The workshop aimed to provide a better understanding of the critical nutritional needs of infants for optimal growth and development. It focused on the following topics:
- Breastfeeding and Formula Feeding: Highlighting their roles as vital sources of early nutrition.
- Introducing Complementary Foods: Understanding the appropriate timing and methods to introduce solid foods.
- Addressing Feeding Challenges: Providing information for cases where specialized nutritional support is needed.
The workshop featured presentations by Dr. Norhan Zaki Shaker, who spoke on “Infant Nutritional Requirements,” and Dr. Media Abdullah, who discussed “Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.” Parez Shahab concluded the workshop with a presentation on the “Infant Nasogastric Tube Placement Procedure.”
