In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) established by the United Nations, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University is pleased to announce the formation of the New Tishk Professional Nurse (TPN) Training Team. Additionally, we are proud to report the successful completion of a six-day, 24-hour First Aid Training Course conducted from September 16 to 26, 2024. This inaugural training session was led by a distinguished professional certified by the American Heart Association as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider.

The objective of this training course was to enhance community and public understanding of emergency management. It emphasized the essential importance of first aid skills and protocols for addressing prevalent injuries such as choking, cardiac arrest, burns, poisoning, fractures, and hemorrhaging.

The training course, held from September 16 to September 26, commenced with an opening ceremony featuring welcome addresses by Dr. Hiwa Banna, the dean of the Nursing college, along with remarks from renowned guests and organizers.

The initial session addressed the crucial function of first aid professionals, presented by Assist Prof. Dr. Dara Al-Banna, the dean of the Nursing Department.

On the same day, the second session conducted by RA. Ismail Khalid concentrated on airway management, choking, and drowning in emergency scenarios.

The second day included a session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) conducted by RA Shaimaa Shahab, focusing on the latest techniques and protocols in cardiovascular life support.

The third day concentrated on Bleeding and Shock Management, presented by RA Hilal Farouq, while the fourth day addressed strain, sprain, and fracture, led by RA Muhammed Hareem. The fifth day emphasized Burn and Wound Care, conducted by RA Hanan Azad, and the final day focused on Biting and Inhalation, presented by RA Asmaa Yaseen.

This extensive training is especially advantageous for patients with Atrial Fibrillation, heart failure, and other cardiovascular diseases, since it improves their capacity to respond efficiently in crises.

Participants acquired first-aid techniques and engaged in practice, enhancing their skills and optimizing response times in emergency situations.

Attendees relished a first day replete with cake-cutting and many games. Daily coffee breaks were offered to participants for networking, sharing experiences, and discussing recent developments in emergency medical care.

The closing ceremony on September 26 signified the conclusion of the program, during which trainers and participants received certificates of completion.
The training session highlighted the significance of advanced training in emergency procedures, and its success has established a benchmark for future programs, with organizers intending to enhance the competencies of healthcare providers in the community.

At last! The Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University recognized contributions that also enhanced academic and professional ties.
