In line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3, which focuses on Good Health and Wellbeing, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University has formed the new Tishk Professional Nurse (TPN) Training Team. The team successfully completed a six-day, 24-hour First Aid Training Course from September 16 to 26, 2024. The training was led by a professional certified by the American Heart Association as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider.

The primary goal of the course was to improve the community’s understanding of emergency management. It focused on essential first aid skills and protocols for common injuries and medical emergencies. These included choking, cardiac arrest, burns, poisoning, fractures, and hemorrhaging.

The training course began with an opening ceremony. Dr. Hiwa Banna, the dean of the Nursing college, gave a welcome address, along with other guests and organizers. The initial session, led by Assist Prof. Dr. Dara Al-Banna, focused on the important role of first aid professionals. The second session, led by RA. Ismail Khalid, covered airway management, choking, and drowning.

On the second day, RA Shaimaa Shahab conducted a session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The third day concentrated on Bleeding and Shock Management, presented by RA Hilal Farouq. On the fourth day, RA Muhammed Hareem led a session on strain, sprain, and fracture care. The fifth day, presented by RA Hanan Azad, emphasized Burn and Wound Care. The final day focused on Biting and Inhalation, which was presented by RA Asmaa Yaseen.

This extensive training is particularly beneficial for patients with conditions such as Atrial Fibrillation and heart failure. It is also beneficial for others with cardiovascular conditions who may require first aid assistance.
