Environmental Health and Safety Community University Partnership Project
Under the name “Environmental Health and Safety Community University Partnership Project,” the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a community service project in partnership with Ishik Kindergarten. Ms. Hanan Azad supervised the project, which took place over two days on November 19 and 26, 2024.
The first day, children were given a thorough general wellness assessment by nursing students, who evaluated their general health and highlighted any possible issues. Following the assessment, the students gave the kids and their teachers thorough guidance on how to make the kids’ lives better. These guidelines, which emphasized the need of preventative care and good lifestyle choices, included advice on appropriate eating, exercise, sleep hygiene, and mental health support. In order to guarantee that the child’s physical and developmental needs were satisfied for the best possible growth and happiness, the students also provided guidance on maintaining a balanced routine and encouraging emotional well-being.
The second day, children gathered in the seminar hall, where nursing students gave an educational session on promoting health and wellbeing. Important subjects including appropriate handwashing methods, emotional control, keeping a positive attitude, and the value of a balanced diet were all emphasized in the seminar. The nursing students encouraged children to actively participate in the hands-on demonstrations to make sure they understood these ideas completely. Children discussed good eating practices, learned how to express and control their emotions, and practiced handwashing skills.
A thorough overview and in-depth explanations of every important subject were given to the children. In the meantime, they received gifts as well, which maintained the lively and interesting mood.
The success of the occasion was largely due to the exceptional contributions made by our second-grade students. The Faculty of Nursing hopes that this initiative will encourage future students to engage in community service projects and expresses its profound gratitude to all those participating.
