Effective Learning Outcomes and Curriculum Mapping in Higher Education National Workshop News

The Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University successfully organized the Effective Learning Outcomes and Curriculum Mapping in Higher Education National Workshop on September 28, 2025. The event, held in the Education Building, brought together faculty members and curriculum developers to explore innovative strategies for strengthening curriculum design and coherence.

The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from Ms. Hanan Azad, Research Assistant at Faculty of Nursing, followed by an address from Prof. Dr. Hiwa Banna, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Srwa Rostam Rasul, Lecturer at TIU, who emphasized the importance of writing measurable, student-centered learning outcomes and demonstrated effective techniques for aligning them with broader curriculum objectives.

The program was organized into three main sessions. The first session featured Dr. Srwa’s keynote address, which provided participants with both a theoretical foundation and practical guidance on structuring learning outcomes. She emphasized the development of clear, measurable, student-centered outcomes and demonstrated how curriculum mapping can be used to align these outcomes with broader program objectives. The second session focused on hands-on practice, allowing participants to apply the concepts discussed and engage directly with tools and techniques of curriculum mapping. The third session emphasized collaboration through group work and presentations, offering participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, reflect on the workshop content, and present their findings. The event concluded with a coffee break and closing ceremony.

With the dedicated support of TIU’s faculty and staff, the workshop underscored the university’s commitment to advancing outcome-based education and meeting accreditation standards. Participants departed with practical tools and strategies to further enhance curriculum development in their respective programs.

The Faculty of Nursing at TIU extends its appreciation to all attendees and contributors for their active participation in making this workshop a meaningful success.
