1st International Nursing and Midwifery Conference

In collaboration with Hawler Medical University, the University of Ninevah, Nursing & Midwifery Development Center and the Ministry of Health-KRG, the Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University (TIU) hosted the 1st International Nursing and Midwifery Conference, held on January 25th–27th, 2024, at the Nursing & Midwifery Development Center. The conference, held under the theme of “Improving Healthcare Through the Development of Nursing and Midwifery Professions”, aimed to provide an opportunity for nurses and midwives from the Kurdistan Region and other countries to meet, present their work in relation to the issues proposed, discuss and exchange ideas and potential solution for challenges they face and contribute to the development of nursing and midwifery professions and healthcare in general.

The Ministry of Health, representatives from the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Health, held the conference’s opening ceremony on the evening of January 25th, 2024, at the Erbil International Hotel.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished international guests, a KRG Member of Parliament, and representatives from our conference partners. This conference united nursing and midwifery professionals from regional and global backgrounds—including academic, clinical, administrative, and research sectors—to collaboratively share and discuss the impactful results of their research and quality improvement initiatives.

On the conference’s opening day, seven dynamic workshops were conducted, led by esteemed local and international facilitators. We were honoured to host international speakers from a diverse array of countries including the USA, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Spain, Lebanon, and Iran, who enriched the event by sharing their valuable experiences with our local attendees.
